This Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) publication focuses on 10 years of WBG work supporting nutrition in Senegal. Authors conclude that Senegal’s Nutrition Enhancement Program deserves its reputation as a well-run, evidence-based, community-focused program that has both demonstrated effectiveness in intervention areas and managed to increase its coverage, although not to the level initially anticipated in 2001. They suggest certain elements to improve program performance at this stage, including: (1) a medium-term strategic program, grounded in national policy, with estimated costs; (2) a medium-term projection of resource availability; (3) a move by all partners away from parallel project systems towards more integration; and (4) strengthened systems for coordination and collaboration across partners, including joint missions and coordination meetings.
